“Bleak Sea Regional Transmission Line Project”, B” package has been signed

Bleak Sea Regional Transmission Line Project’s ,,B” package has been officially signed by  ,,Georgian State Electrosystem” Ltd and “SIEMENC-Austria” on 22 July . Deputy Minister of Energy of Georgia Mrs. Mariam Valishvili was attended the ceremony.

Projects B package envisages construction of new 500-400-220 KW substation in Akhalcihke, expansion of substation “Zestaponi 500” and modernization of substation ,,Gardabani 500”.

Three companies were participating in announced tender: ‘’ABB-Sweden”, “AREVA-Germany”, and “SIEMENC-Austria”. The least price among these three was offered by “SIEMENC-Austria”. Presumably implementation of works will begin in August of the current year. First stage of works is planned to be completed in January of 2012, and the second stage will be completed in January of 2013.

The first stage envisages the implementation of works in substations ,,Zestaponi 500” and on the section of substation ,,Akhalcikhe 500 and 400 KW which provides operation of 350 MW back-to-back station. On the second stage the project will be completed fully.

 As for the ,,A” package of the project, Zestaponi-akhalcikhe and 500 KW transmission line -,,Zekari”, connecting Gardabani-Akhalcikhe 500 KW transmission line - ,,Vardzia” and 400 KW transmission line - ,,Meskheti”, should be constructed on the Georgian-Turkish border.

Four companies were bidding for this announced tender: DALEKOVOD, KALPATARU, SA-RA, KEC, among them ,,KEC International” was the least price company. On 5 July, 2010 was agreement signed with the later. The implementation of works under this package will begin in August of the same year. The first stage which envisage construction of transmission lines the ,,Zekari” 500 KW and 400 KW ,,Meskheti” which will be completed in 2012 and the project entirely will be completed in June 2013.

The “Black Sea Transmission line Project” is funded by the following financial institutions: ,, European Reconstruction and Development Bank”, ,,European Investment Bank”, KFW, ,,European neighborhood Found”. In total contributed sum for the project is accounted as 265 million Euros.
